Symbiosis Institute of Media & Communication encourages students to be enthusiastic, creative and adventurous. With all this combined, the result is a celebration!
Fest – O – Com celebrates the success of communication and strives to highlight its importance to everyone within and outside the industry. It encompasses seminars, celebrity shows and a wide range of competitions that will enable participants to understand the true power of media and communication and the opportunities the field offers. Every year, more than 700 students from various colleges all across the country participate in this event.
And this February, after 20 years of its existence, and the tenth edition of Fest-O-Comm, Symbiosis Institute of Media & Communication will host battles that will change the way you look at things!
Do you think you need to shed blood to prove you are stronger?
Do you need to dominate someone to prove you are smarter?
Do you need to break rules to show you are different?
In this battleground, we set our own rules.
As youth, and the fourth pillars of democracy, we shall fight –
1. Piracy
If you want to fight this war, come join us in this crusade for creativity, where “cut-copy-paste” is an obsolete function. Where pirates refer to the one-eyed, hook-armed robbers of the sea and not the street vendors with cheap copies of your favourite songs and films. In this battleground, we fight against these new pirates. Who lord the minds and kill the creative space within us. We don’t shed blood here to show we are strong, we just come up with new inimitable things, every single time..
2. Illiteracy
Ultimate domination, is not when you annihilate someone. It is when you stare at your fears and convince yourself you are no coward. Ultimate domination is not when you make someone lose, it’s when you win. Our weapons are not guns and bullets. We fight with our minds and the power lies in our knowledge. Our battleground does not light fires in enemy camps, but sparks the hunger to know... we are battling against illiteracy, where one is unaware of the sharpest and strongest ammunition - the mind!
3. And Apathy on our part -
Power does not lie in subjugating enemies by force. It lies in making them bow with respect. The thrill no longer is in breaking rules, but creating your own and watching how the world adopts them. We wage wars to win peace. But here we do things differently; we combat our fears to win peace within! Because it’s only when you are at peace with yourself can you face the world . In this war for peace, we don’t leave scars on bodies but heal those innumerable scars left on minds.
Come fight to find what the rewards in store are! Come fight to prove that a warrior is never apathetic! Come to gain the knowledge that stalwarts of the fourth pillar of democracy bestow upon you and impart how to bring about change!
